Man, what a total mess.  If there were ever a season where a playoff system was needed, this is the one.  If the normal procedure happens with the polls today/tomorrow, we're looking at Ohio St vs Georgia for all the marbles.  Ohio St is a good team, but worthy of a title shot after their soft Big-Ten schedule?  No way!  Georgia is playing real well now, but they didn't even qualify for their conference championship, and they  didn't have to play LSU.

However it shakes out I want to see LSU play USC in a bowl game.  To me those teams remain clearly the best.  USC lost both of their games when they were racked beyond recognition with injuries.  They're healthy now and rolling people.  LSU lost both of their games to tough teams in triple overtime.  Seems to me that the winners of the top two conferences (by far) meeting for the title is a better idea than watching any soft Big-10, ACC, Big East, or Big-12 teams slop around in January.

The college football system has been broke for decades.  It's one of the reasons I don't follow.  The one year I did follow, Penn State got snubbed in the poll to Nebraska (1993?) and I was pissed.  Haven't watched it since.

The only way is a playoff, top 2 teams from every conference.  You can have a stupid poll to seed them if you want to partially keep the system they have now.  Playoff is the only true way of deciding a champion.  EVERY other sport does it that way...college AND pro.  College football doesn't need to be the exception to the rule when football has become the true national pasttime.

Speaking of college football, I had a bet with Roland that Notre Dame would go winless and I lost the bet, but Andie, how can Stanford LOSE to them???   Huh?  UGH...Standford must be bad because ND SUCKS!.

Stanford isn't bad at all.  That ND game was a fluke where the Cardinal receivers had the dropsies all day.  Three touchdown catches dropped, numerous third-down conversions.  Worse yet, the field goal kicker missed every single kick, so they ended up getting no points at all on many red-zone trips.  It was pretty weird.

Yesterday's handling of a very talented Cal team was proof positive that Stanford is on the come.  They'll definitely be in a bowl game next season.  The Pac-10 was so freaking loaded this year, even Washington only won 4 games!

Until somebody comes up with a way to make the money generated by the bowl system (on a per stadium/city basis) match up to a playoff type system, we are stuck with this b(c)s system.

Yet another year goes by and everyone gets to see how screwed up the BCS is.  With every passing year, fans think it can't get any worse, but it does.
As far as Stanford goes....As long as they beat Cal, it's a winning season.  Finally, after 5 years, we have The Axe back where it belongs.

The Axe exchange was interesting.  As the game clock ticked down, the Axe committee for each school approached each other, at one of the endzones, from each sideline.  With less than one minute left, they were nose to nose, with a dead pan face.  Then Cal just handed it over.

Well at least the silly BCS system got it half right.  The title game will be Ohio St vs LSU.  If  Ohio St played in either half of the SEC they're at best a 3 loss team.  Remember, even Florida lost 3 games in that conference this year!

LSU 44 - Ohio St 24
