Next track day with CFRA is going to be Buttonwillow. Looking forward to running there. I will have a brand new set of race pads for this day. Can't wait. price is going to be $175 for CFRA members. Not sure about the guest price yet.

Registration opened for members today, but I think there's a mistake. The site is saying $225 for members when the email a few days ago said $175. i emailed the president to see which is correct. Guest registration will be 2 weeks from now.

So what do you think if I was to get on the track? I would be running beter brakes and hopefully tires. What is your opinion on tires stay with the street one's or R compound for my next track time.

CFRA is not a good organization for beginners. I replied to your post on S2000.com with the reasons why. There will be full blown race cars on track with the B group...we're talking serious closing rates which will really make it unsafe with you only having 1 day experience under your belt. You need an instructor and CFRA doesn't provide them.

Buttonwillow gets lot of action. You will have no problem getting time there. I am probably going to try for a day in August to play with the set-up some before the 5th. I don't want to be the slowest thing on the track.

Vinny, you were really teasing those folks at S2000.com by not mentioning the the whole guest/member thing in the first post... LOL
What pads did you end up getting? Track-day only kind? I am about to order some parts for the S2000 and am looking at getting some "street" Hawk pads. I am a little worried about the whole transfer layer thing, I don't really want to spend the money on new rotors.
Vivian might come with me to see what the track thing is about. When she does, I will be driving the S2000. I also need to get it ready for the trip to your BBQ. New rear tires, 30k service, yada, yada, yada...

I didn't mean to tease. I posted here first and then just copied and pasted.
For pads, I wound up ordering Hawk Black track pads. I'll test them out and see how I like them. There were 2 or 3 more expensive Hawk track pads I could buy. They were all temperature rated and I have no idea if i needed something that expensive.

I just ordered some of the HPS pads, a couple of new rear tires, and went ahead and got some slotted rotors. It was either that or resurface the stock ones for the transfer layer thing. And this is my b-day present from Viv. It pays to give nice jewelry.
(I have not hit the buy button, and am really on the fence about the rotors. I still need to order all the fluids (Redline vs Royal Purple), and am going to get enough to do the Miata, too. WTF, it is only money, right?)

I can register for the dinner now. W00t
I have new rotors, ATE fluid, Carbotech XP12/XP10 pads, and a brake cooling solution coming in soon (all for the Miata.) Need to order a few more things and then I will be ready to work on the car when I return from China.
The S2000 is getting ATE Powerslot rotors, ATE fluid, and Hawk HPS pads.
Both cars will be getting full fluid changes with Redline synthetic fluids.

My pads came in yesterday. I also bought street pads and Hawk performnce pads for Jen's SUV, especially if she is towing my S.

John, are you going to stay at Harris Ranch? I don't know if I want to drive an extra hour for each trip. I hear it is nice there though.

Thanks for the invite. I'm thinking about staying at the Days Inn Lost Hills. It's only 11 miles from the track and $55/night. I think i am only staying over the night before and have Jen drive home after the track day because I'll be exhausted.
