Pretty expensive week for maintenance. The dealership by my house wants $1100 for new shocks and struts. And I wound up going a size smaller on my rear tires to a 245/35-18. They were $440 at the Tire Rack as compared to $770 I paid at the small tire shop here. I'll be up to $2,000 in maintenance by the time Ryan adds in his labor hours.

Shop around bro. List price is only about $900 for all 4 corners if you're buying the bodies only. Make sure they're not charging you for new hats, springs, or perches.

I decided to order because I only have a week until the track day.

That was one thing I liked about doing work at Tim's Porsche shop. I got parts at wholesale prices. I don't have that since he closed his doors.

Was that the cost installed?
It's too bad that you did not have some time to shop for aftermarket. The Tein flex are $1430 with new springs. Maybe not the best thing out there for the S2000, but would have been way more adjustable than stocks.

I got a hookup for parts today through Ryan, so I won't have to pay retail anymore. Ryan only charged me $385 labor for all the work he did. Not too bad. I have to do 2 years of taxes for him, so I'll recover maybe half of that back. That's a good deal to me.
I have good news and bad news about the car. Good news is the car feels super stiff with the new shocks and struts. My new tires got delivered today, so I'll get them mounted with a wheel alignment tomorrow.
The bad news is the creak in the suspension didn't go away. Ryan noticed the rubber piece on the bottom of the spring was pretty beat in the back on both sides and the spring was rubbing against the metal housing. He thought that was the problem, so he tried wrapping the bad spot on the spring with some duct tape to stop the creaking. Didn't work, so we don't know if that is still the culprit or not. I may take it to Honda tomorrow and pay them to diagnose the problem just so I at least know what it is. If it's nothing serious, I won't feel nervous about taking it on a track.

I also put on the Cobalt Racing brakes that Walter gave me at Winter Wine Tour last January to break them in for next weekend. I didn't put the anti-squeals on and it sounded like a bus coming home. I may put them on. It was REALLY loud.

Hey...Figured out what the creak was! I wound up taking it to the dealership and asked them to diagnose it. They said they would only charge me $82 and I felt it was worth it if it turned out to be something important bfore going on the racetrack. With my aunt and uncle in town, I didn't have much use for my car, so I dropped it off Monday morning. I got a call last night and they said a nut on the right rear upper control arm was only hand tight.
The only work my friend did back there before the shocks and struts was replace my wheel bearings, so he must not have torqued it down tight enough and it took 6 months for it to work loose. I'm glad I found that before going on the track!

That is great news.
I should take some pics of the Miata. I have all of the control arms out of the car now to replace the bushings.

Try Tire Rack
Yeah, already got them 2 weeks ago. I had to drop to a 245 from a 255 because that tire is out of stock from every tire store. Wound up costing $444.
