For anyone who may not know, the AP1 S2000 comes with Bridgestone S02 in sizes: F - 205/55-16 R - 225/50-16
If you go to a different tire, you need to change the tire size. For all other tires other than OEM, you should wear: F - 225/50-16 R - 245/45-16
The reason is because of the size of the contact patch. The original S02 is a squared off when it gets to the edge. Most other tires are tapered thereby giving you less contact patch. By increasing the size, you increase the contact patch and are essentially putting the same amount of rubber on the road.

These are the OEM specs for the AP1. You will want to get as close to these as possible. One very important aspect to selecting the right tire is load capacity, something that is rarely talked about. See attached document.

John,
Do you have to go to a different tire size for the AP2 if not replacing with OEM Bridgestones like with AP1's? I'm considering a set of 17" rims for my car.

Are you going for stock rims or aftermarket? If a/m, then the sizes most likely will not be the same as stock anyways. I am using Advan Neovas FWIW. And they are not the stock size. I went wider.

Yeah, rear AP2 wheels are 8.5". Not many manufacturers offer (at least when I was looking) that 1.5" stagger.
When I was buying, I tried to keep the width of the contact patches the same ratio as stock, or increasing the the size of the rear (relative to the front.) Also look for overall tire height (rpm per mile) to try and keep the speedo accurate. Most of this type of info is available on manufacturer's web sites.

Jen said it was ok to get rims and they would be my Christmas present. She said it could either be rims or a Playstation 3. She had a Playstation 3 on lay-away for my birthday and I told her not to buy it because I have the PS 2 that already sits around enough. At least the rims would get used plenty AND they would be a tax deduction for auto expense to my corporation How's that for justification??

I buy her jewelry and flowers, and get car parts in return. She thinks it is funny. Car parts = jewelry for men.
She asks me what I want, and all I can think of is car parts. It get harder and harder to get me gifts, especially if she thinks she needs to match what I spend on her. So I let her buy me parts for the S2000, which I have been neglecting lately.
And thanks for the magnet with the football schedule.
