The NFL has had its share of unusual stories this year, but one thing is certain: Out of 32, I see maybe 5 teams that standout from the rest of the league.
Let's start with the NFC, to me, the weaker conference. The class of the conerence is Dallas and Green Bay. Romo is quickly becoming a superstar and Brett Favre is playing like a youthful QB that we loved watching 10 years ago. One other team to watch is the Giants at 6-2 with a six-game win streak. I don't quite consider them to be at the same level as Dallas and Green Bay but they get honorable mention. The rest of the conference is average at best. The Lion at 6-2 are dreamers, especially after what a mediocre Eagles team did to them a few weeks ago. The Eagles are inconsistent and are going nowhere. The Rams are just plain AWFUL. I never thought they would be this bad.
Moving to the AFC, you have to agree that the Patriots and Colts are playing at a level well above anybody else in the ENTIRE league. The REAL Superbowl will be the AFC conference championship when these 2 play each other again. No need to watch the Superbowl has the AFC winner will trounce any NFC team. The game will be won before halftime. Honorable mention in the AFC is the Steelers and Titans.
The rest of the AFC is terrible just like the NFC. In the AFC Worst (West), we can't even get a division leader with a winning record. In the East, the Jets and Dolphins are pathetic. Those 2 teams should have their own playoff. The loser should play the Rams to see who is the worst in the league.
So there it is folks: Patriots, Colts, Steelers, and Titans. Cowgirls, Packers, Giants. I'll be rooting for an upset in the AFC just to see an interesting Superbowl. Packers-Titans would be cool.

Don't be surprised if the Lions beat either the Pack or Cowpies in the playoffs. I agree that they're not that good, but I don't think the cream of the NFC crop is very good either. In fact, I won't be surprised to see the Aints make the playoffs and run all the way to the Super Bowl. They've been playing tough lately. The Giants will be the flop of the second half. If they make the playoffs it'll be by squeaking in. Watch for them to go 2-6 or 3-5 the rest of the way. I'm rooting for the Pack and the Aints to go far. Hard to argue that the AFC powers are the class of the league. They've proven it to me not just in their records but in the way they've been beating people. I really hope if the champ comes from them that it's Manning's group. The Patsy's are impossible to like unless you're a chowderhead. Don't sleep on the Steelers, though. They are the one team that could rise up and beat either the Colts or Pats. I'd actually choose the Steelers over any of the NFC teams, too. The Titans are nowhere near as good as their record. Sure, they played the Colts tough, but they've also struggled to beat some shit teams. And man are there alot of shit teams this year! Unfortunately that again includes my team. I think we'll see the Saints and Colts in the Stupor Bowl. Colts repeat.

Just when you think the Saints have been playing tough, they get spanked by the hapless Rams, currently 34-15 in the 4th qtr.

Colts lost Freeney for the season. No pass rush, no Super Bowl. Steelers just lost a pair to the IR too, so now it really looks like if the Cheatriots stay healthy they're a shoo-in.

And with the Colts losing to the Chargers, even though just barely, it has to make you wonder if they have enough to compete with the Pats. Manning throwing 6 INT's in a game is unprecedented.

I see the Colts loss to the Chargers differently. Manning's bad day was a fluke. He's not going to all of a sudden turn into a crappy QB; he'll be alright. The way I see it, the Colts turned the ball over on half their possessions and were still in position to win the game if not for a pair of weird chip-shot missed FGs by Vinatieri. That game was also an indictment of the Chargers.... that many turnovers and they didn't win by 20? I can't take that team seriously until they put together a string of strong performances. That was anything but.

I never said the Chargers were good and I never said Manning was turning into a crappy QB. I agreed with you.

True, I just thought you were insinuating that the Colts problems ran deeper than their injuries. Crazy how damn good teams like this are that they can lose front line players and compete with the second tier teams, which is how I see the Chargers (but barely).
