I also read at F1-Live that there is a hope to bring the GP back to Indy:
Indy hoping for F1 Return An official of F1's former US Grand Prix venue at Indianapolis is hopeful the sport will one day return.
Contrary to the desire of many teams, manufacturers and sponsors, America does not feature on the 2008 calendar after Bernie Ecclestone and Indianapolis Motor Speedway CEO Tony George did not agree a deal for a contract beyond this year.
But Joie Chitwood, the circuit's President, told the New York-based news service Bloomberg that he would not rule out more US Grand Prix at Indy in the future.
"I think that Formula One will come back, I really do," he said. "There's nothing definitive but I think there has been some dialogue.
"
"It's (a matter of) coming up with the right plan so everybody can benefit from it," he added.
Chitwood said the famous venue spent a lot of money to accommodate Ecclestone's series prior to the first race in 2000.
"We were disappointed when it went away. For us, the goal is to see if we can get them to come back at some point," he added.

In Shanghai they speak Shanghainese. But everyone born and educated after the 50's will speak Mandarin to some extent. Everyone Vivian's age should speak some English, as it is required during the basic schooling. Her parent's generation speak Russian instead.

And maybe while I'm there, I can hire some tax preparers that I can pay $.30/hour and write the trip off as a business expense

We would go visit the factory so we can do the write-off thing.
One of Vivian's friends is a CPA (or their equivalent) there but that means nothing here. She had to go all the way through school and get another degree to get a job in the same field. She had it easy in school due to her experience. Except for the BS classes that everyone has to take.

It looks like we are planning a trip to Shanghai in October. Vivian will go up early for a national holiday around the last week in September. I will join her there sometime in the first week of October. We will have to make a trip to Guangzhou sometime around the 10th to visit our factory.
What are your plans at this time?
Have you purchased any tickets for anything?
Is there anything you would like to see or do while you are there?

We haven't done anything yet except talk about it. We were thinking of a week in Beijing and then the last 3 days in Shanghai for the race. That would require a train ticket or something to get us between the cities. The tickets I'm looking to get for the race are $150 apiece.

You want to fly from Beijing. The train will take a day, or more. It might be a cool way to see the countryside... but they probably allow smoking on the train. The express will cost almost as much as a plane. No desire to do Hong Kong or Macao? We might go to Westlake, which is about 2 hours west of Shanghai. Chinese tourist area.
Vivian has no real interest in the race. If we decide to do it, we should coordinate the ticket purchase.

How much does a plane ticket cost between cities like Hong Kong or Beijing to Shanghai? Expensive?

I will ask Vivian here in a bit.
Best bet would be for her mom to buy them there. Cheapest, at least for inside China flying.

Yeah, let me know. I want to do a cost projection for travel to see how much we'll need for the trip.

Jen and I decided we aren't going to China. Too expensive and we need to pay down bills. We might use the frequent flyer miles for Hawaii which I have enough for and the Marriott points for the free hotel.

I will have to go, most likely for the month of October. I just won't go to the race.
I am also going on May 8. Lots of work to do there, but I am hoping to spend a weekend in Hong Kong or Macao.
Actually, it has gotten harder to get a visa and more expensive due to the Olympics.
