I've been searching a bunch of different sites for used S2000's.  I called the person that had the cherry silverstone for sale back in May, but it has already been sold.  I called Bob Hallett who offered his '03 sebring to me for only $17k 2 months ago and his was sold too.

I found an '02 NFR with 52k miles and the person wants $17.5k.
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/484049989.html
It's never been to the track, it's loaded with extras, including 18" wheels with Michelin PS2 tires with a lot of tread left, complete aftermarket stereo with upgraded speakers and the stealth box with a JL Audio subwoofer, AP2 front bumper with lower lip, side strakes and small OEM rear spoiler, and an Injen air intake.  I took it for a test drive but I was not too impressed with the engine performance.  It felt sluggish below VTEC.  I don't know, but maybe my engine is just a freak of nature with its power under 6K RPM.  It felt like it needed new rotors as the brake pedal had a little pulsating in it.  Shifter felt nice and smooth, though.

I found an '03 S2K in Oklahoma City with 42k miles.  The guy wants $18k and it's mostly stock.
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=517745&st=0
I don't mind it being stock,  but the cost to add a stereo with satelite radio, alarm, an intake, plus the cost of either going there and driving it back or having it shipped is going to be more than I want to spend.

I also found one in Wisconsin. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=389554&st=0.  Has really miles for a decent price.

Opinions?

I will sell you a supercharged 2004 for $24K.

Good luck with your search.  At least you don't seem to be concerned about the color.

Vinny, my son is going to be driving soon, and I think we need to get something more practical that we all could drive. My wife does'nt drive the s. So I hate to do it but I think I'm going to sell the s. It's a 2001 silverstone with red/black interior. It has only 23563 miles on it and is stock except for a k&n fipk and a voodoo shift knob. Body and interior are both excellent. 4 new hankook rs2s 4000 miles ago. The only thing i've been noticing lately is a little pulsating from the brakes. Let me know if you are interested. $17000 to you only. Perry knows me. Gary Sad

You see the paint job on the mustang in the background of the car in OK?

Are you going to sell the yellow one, or turn it into a track car?

It might be interesting to drive them back to back, or side to side to make a direct comparison.  Could be his 18" wheels are heavier than yours, and that might make it feel sluggish.  Were you alone on the test drive?

Tempting, John.  Very tempting.  How many miles?

That's tempting too, although I'm not big on the red interior.  My first S when I lived in Philadelphia was silverstone/red/black.  I do like the low miles with the K&N though.  What's the condition of the plastic window?  Ever been to the racetrack or auto-x?

Plan is to fix the bumper, clutch, and tranny (if needed) and letting Jen use to commute to work and as my track toy.   The wheels did look awful bulky, so maybe they were heavy.  I know it was a pain in the ass to get to the valve stem.  His left front was flat, so the guy put some fix-a-flat in it and I drove it to the gas station and put air in it.  You can not unscrew the valve stem cap without touching the rotor which we all know how hot they get.  The girlsfriend's father went with me on the test drive.

Gee, Gary.  I'm sorry to see that you feel the time has come to part with the S.  That's a great deal you're offering to Vinny.  I just wish we had some play money so we could have a his and her's in the garage.

The plastic window is clear and in good shape.  I don't think its ever been to the track or auto crossed.  It had 9000 miles on it when I bought it certified from Walnut Creek Honda.

I'll definitely vouch for Gary.  He's a pretty good guy despite the fact I've never been able to entice him to do a track day with me.   Wink

I just ran a private party blue book report on his car.  It came in at $18,600 for exc condition.   Even needing rotors and pads it's still a real good deal at $17k.  The red/black interior is nice looking on silverstone, IMO.

The 52k miles NFR that you test drove is also a helluva good deal at $17.5k vs $20.1k bb value if in exc condition.  As for the sluggishness, I wouldn't think the wheels would make that much of a difference given that you're already used to driving your S with 18's on there, unless the ones this dude has are somehow way heavier.  The Injen CAI may have more to do with it compared to your AEMv2.  Still, if it didn't feel right I'd have it checked out before buying it.  BTW, I still believe your S is indeed freaky fast.  I've driven it numerous times with the new engine, before and after the intake and it's got substantially more pickup than both of my S's had below VTEC.

The Wisconsin is worth $21k (in his zip code, worth a little more here) if in exc shape.  Do you want a bone stock S?  If so, this might be the one.  That glass rear-view mirror and low miles is tough to pass up.  If you don't take Gary's offer him $18.7 and ship it in for about $1300.

The problem with my car is that it is not a good deal.  I hosed myself on the financing by leasing the car and then switching to a purchase after a couple of years.  That means that I owe $24K on the car.  Mods don't usually increase the value of the car.

Here are the problems:

That scratch from the tent
The front has 4 years worth of stone chips and dings
25K miles
A couple of door dings
Needs a windshield
6 track days
Needs rear brake pads

The advantages:

Dyno'd at 312 RWHP
Alpine stereo
S-Pods with Infinity speakers
Blitz DC-2 boost gauge
Powder coated stock wheels
Modifry shift beeper

I have all sorts of records for the stuff done to the car.  But I think for $24K you can get a perfect example of an S2000 and have money left over to do whatever you want to do to it.  If you are interested, I will meet with you and let you take it for a drive.

I think $24k is a very good price.  Maybe we'll do a Palomar drive next Saturday and you can let me test drive it then  Smiley

I looked at the Elise a couple of years ago.  Decided it was too much trouble for me to get in and out of on a regular basis.  But you are not as tall as I am, so it might be easier.  My brother in law took a harder look at them, and decided it would not be a good commute car on rough roads.

Without a commute, I would love to have one.  And then I would let the modding begin. Smiley
