Jen found out one of the doctors that she knows has an Elise and he took her for a ride this morning. She really liked the car, but did say it was hard getting in and out of. I still haven't decided.
Talking to John Quint on the phone last night, he brought up a very good point: reliability with Lotus can be an issue, and the cost of normal maintenance and other maintenance may be much more expensive due to the nature of it being an "exotic" type car. Honda definitely holds the lead in that argument.

Just go to a dealership and drive one. That's what we did. Tell them that you have an S2000 and are looking to move up, and know what the competition is in that price range. The dealership we went to had no problem letting Mike drive one, and let us drive a used 911 in the same price range that they had on the lot.

If you might still be interested in this car, I will drive to Palomar Saturday. It won't kill me if you are not. I did some shopping of my own, and the cars I consider a worthy replacement are $60K to $80k used. Vivian got irate with me when I mentioned that.

We're looking to see if it's going to rain. If it does, there won't be a drive.

If I'm interested in buying your car, I don't want you dodging falling rocks.

05 Elises are getting very affordable. I've seen a few in the 28K range already.

I've noticed looking on ebay that S2000s have very good resale value. Even for a 2000 model most you can find being sold for no less than $15-18k or so. For me that's pretty good considering it's over 8 years old.

I think it really depends on mileage. I found out recently that a tax client of mine sold his for $9k and it had 80k miles on it.
